Update!

September 25, 2009

Well I don’t know why but two spelling tests later I seem to have let go a bit. Maybe it’s the super busy schedule we are keeping…maybe its the great attitude Dylan has about it…maybe its that he’s gotten 100’s on all of them but I seem to be rolling with the punches. He has been doing well on all of his work and is really loving it. I spent one morning this past week helping out and getting to know his new friends and his teacher. We had fun and I think I feel so much better about his whole experience. I was a bit apprehensive about his class before but after sitting down with all his classmates and his teacher I am much more at ease about the whole thing.

Ella is doing well too. except for one big thing…the CRYING! OMG she will not stop crying every morning and through out the day. She has even had to make another trip to the “principals” office. We are going to attempt a bit different routine next week and let Shane take her and maybe that will help. I am hopping it is just a routine change and adjustment. Shane did spend a few days away this week on a business trip, maybe that was it…I am crossing my fingers and hopping for the best. Thankfully her teacher is super helpful and is working with her too.

I have been working hard and haven taken on some new projects at work that have me learing new things and developing a huge headache…One day we will be able to slow down…one day…

VBS – H%*!

June 26, 2009

Well sickness floated around VBS (vacation bible school for those non southern/church folks, don’t worry I didn’t know either until we moved back and had kids) and finally caught up with us. The kids got it, then I got it…lord know where it will land next. Thankfully it went swiftly and we are all on the mend now. The kids had  a ton of fun learning and playing with friends from church old and new. Crafts are every where and they have only tried to set our holly bush on fire a few times (you know the burning bush and all). We haven’t stopped singing and dancing for two weeks now.

The kids had dentist appointments Wed. and all check out great! No cavities! We do have one loose tooth though! Dylan is happy to announce that he has his first loose tooth! I am happy to announce that loose teeth are not my department! Even as a kid I just let my teeth wiggle until they were hanging by a “thread.” It was well established before kids came along I would handle womanly things and Shane would handle all teeth.  Anyway we will be minus a tooth hear soon expect pictures (probably taken by Shane).

Like I’m a book reviewere or something…

April 24, 2009

I truly enjoy reading. I often find myself in one of two situations I am totally engrossed in a book and can’t put it down, or reading has been pushed to the back burner and I am lucky if I get a few pages in while waiting in the pick up line. I recently finished up two books, one of each category.

mult-blessThe first; a page turning, life changing, mind altering story. I checked out Multipul Blessings by Jon and Kate Gosselin and Beth Carson from the local library. I am a true fan of the show on TLC (Jon and Kate Pluse 8) and was unaware of the book until they featured it on the show. I waited my turn in line and when I finally got the book, sat down and read it in one sitting. Some of the stories were familiar but most were news to me. I found the book more about the families spiritual journey than just mere anecdotes from raising 8 kids, although there were plenty of those along the way. I enjoyed the light hearted stores, the deeper feelings and scripture quotes through out the book. I walked away with a new appreciation for the little things in life. I found myself thanking my God for the great gifts he gives me everyday. The blessings I discovered in my own life as a result of one family sharing theirs were truly amazing. I find myself praying over my kids everyday now and thanking God for there mere existence. I have always been thank-full but now I remember the little things too, not just my kids and family, but the financial things, the world around me, the challenges and triumphs in my life.  If you have kids, had kids, want to have kids, know a kid, enjoy a kid, once were a kid, I know you will love this one. I even passed on the joy and gave this book as a gift to our Nana for her birthday. Now I am sure not everyone will get the same spiritual feeling I did after reading this book (Nana just thought it was fun/funny) but I have no doubt you will enjoy the read.

The second; The Choice by Nicholas Sparks I started reading during Shane’s wisdom teeth surgery and just finished today (I know that is only like 2 weeks but for me that’s a long time on one book). I also enjoyed this one. I am a fan of Nickolas Sparks and have enjoyed many of his books, and often find myself connecting with his characters along the way. I found this one a bit typical, I kind of guessed the end despite the air of mystery he tried to create along the way. I always enjoy a good love story and this one does not disappoint. The depth of love between these two people was evident and made me think of my own hubby and what we would do in the same situation. It will spark a conversation that is for sure (shhh he doesn’t know it yet).

Now I am  certainly no book reviewer (is that a word?) but these are two of my latest reads that I would recommend. But then again what do I know… certainly not if reviewer is a real word (the spell check said it was OK).

Catching Up

August 11, 2008

I have been enjoying our little vacation a ton. The kids are loving the beach and everyhing else. I have been devouring books, catching up on my reading. I brought 4 with me and have finished one and am almost done with the second. I enjoyed watching the “Women’s Murder Club” on TV this year and decided that I should read the books that inspired the series. I have finished the first, 1st To Die (by James Patterson) . Which I Ioved, I quickly became attached to the characters and loved the balance between romance and mystery. I had figured out “who done it” before the end but was still intrigued and on the edge of my seat. I am very close to finishing 2nd Chance and am enjoying that as well.

Weight View

July 10, 2008

I have put up a new quote and also created a page dedicated to my weight loss journey.

In other news I tried something I was hoping would motivate me on my continuing journey to loose weight. I heard about it on Racheal Ray, it is a web site, www.weightview.com. It is a simple, free, easy site, that you upload a current picture of yourself to. You pick a weight loss goal (10,20…50 lbs.) and they “transform” your picture into an instant “after” shot. I took a not so flattering shot of me, that Shane took on the way out the door to swim lessons this morning, uploaded it this afternoon and with in a couple of hours I got the results (they say it will take 48 hours but I got mine in like 4). To be honest it wasn’t much of a motivator for me…I didn’t particularly like what I looked like 50 pounds slimmer. Maybe if the shot had been a bit more…descent maybe.I hadn’t even showered and was on my way to work out. I wasn’t going to put the picture up, but what the heck, in the interest of honesty and complete disclosure…

What do you think? I guess I thought they would shave a little off everywhere not just my gut, although that part does look better. I don’t know I’ll have to think about it some more…Is this really what I’ll look like in 50 pounds? Maybe just pulling out one of those old high school pictures would be a better motivator, after all that is the weight I am going for…

Quotes…

July 3, 2008

Sometimes I find grate inspiration in others word, sometimes humor, sometimes it is just an example of there idiocy or even my idiocy. Anyway, I decided I needed something new on the site so I decided to add a “quote of the week.” Now I make no promises that I will find something every week to move me to laughter or inspiration but I will try at least to find something relevant to give each of us something to think about. I hope you enjoy.
