NMH…

March 31, 2009

Sorry I haven’t blogged much lately, there hasn’t been much going on here except run, run, running…

We finished up swim lessons again last week. By the end of it the kids were jumping off the big diving platform into the deep end. They had a blast. We are taking April off (no good time slots available and prior commitments) and will resume in May. Maybe by the end of this summer they will be able to shed the float belt and hit the lake un-assisted.

We partied it up this weekend with 3 count ‘em three birthday parties, cake, and candy galore. The kids had a blast and are still making up for late nights and sugar rushes.

The grown ups have been researching different preschools for Ella next year. We are also getting ready for Shane’s big event next week…(I won’t mention what it is as my life has been threatened)

Dylan has been practicing hard for his big show tonight. He is playing a “supporting” pig in a performance of the three little pigs. He is very excited, I will post all the details soon.

Pat on the back…for ME!

March 20, 2009

So, I’ve been kinda down lately, stressing over the small stuff and feeling totally non productive. So, I chose to think of some things I have actually accomplished lately. Here’s my list brief and sad as it is:

* I made my first fried rice (my Mom used to make it often and I haven’t had any home made fried rice since I was a kid). It actually turned out pretty good too, even though except for Ella no one else in the family would eat it.

* I grew some little plants from seeds (also a first since I was a kid). So this was at the request of Dylan, and frankly I have my doubts as to weather they will actually make it but hey they sprouted and that’s a step.

3-19-09-003

* In an effort to focus myself, have a little mommy time and stop myself from late night snacking I completed a puzzle.

3-19-09-001

* My Hosta bulbs have taken root and are beginningg to grow, next week, I will put the pots outside for the “spring.”

All this while maintaining my work, kids and home….Hahaha, yet another qualification for “mother of the year.”

My son’s deep dark secret…

March 19, 2009

Tuesday is Dylan’s laundry day in our house and I am afraid I have some disturbing news to share with you all…

While stripping Dylan’s bed today I found his secret stash…

I’m afraid it is far worse than I could have ever thought…

That’s right my son has a dirty sock problem.

He can’t seem to keep them on his feet in bed.

What will I ever do?

All in the Famly

March 16, 2009

Shane and I have been in the pizza business since well before we were married, Dylan has been around for 5 years and believe it or not he has never been in a pizza store to make his own pizza. That is until this weekend. Yes, Shane finally lightened up a little (That’s right the reason Shane wouldn’t let them make a pizza before was he didn’t think they would understand his directions yet. He was worried about product quality!) and brought the kids to the store Sunday morning before open and let both the kids make there own pizzas. They had so much fun!

This is Dylan making the dough…

It’s my party…

March 11, 2009

So for those of you who don’t know, Ikea is a home store. They have everything you could imagine from super cheap assemble it yourself furniture, to bed linens, to picture frames, to children’s furniture and toys. The store was recently built in Charlotte, but there are many more in bigger areas. The store has a children’s play zone, a cafeteria, and two levels of reasonably priced goodness for your home. I had a ton of fun playing hookie with my daughter, my friend and her daughter. We shopped, ate, let the kids play and just had a blast.  It was my little birthday present to myself. This is truly a rousing endorsement for them. My only disappointment of the day was sitting on a couch I thought I wanted and found it a bit too hard for my liking…

that and not having a million dollars to spend…

darn that cash only, living the lifestyle you can afford, budget.!

Is there such a thing as “slightly” crazy?

March 3, 2009

3-3-09-001Another snow day is upon us. I actually got to work this morning and then had some fun with the kiddos this afternoon. We FINALLY made our gingerbread house (it’s the first ever post Christmas, post Valentines, closer to Easter than anything else gingerbread house, we’ve been attempting to do them since before Christmas) with the neighbors. Then the kids all got to play together for a while, it was a good w3-3-09-002ay to spend the snowday  part two.   Hey and after three days trapped in the house, I think I may have finally gotten caught up on my laundry…I might be able to take a whole day off.  I am going slightly crazy…but that’s no big surprise.

What is real snow…

March 2, 2009

getattachmentThe mad rush was on again yesterday…the grocery stores, Wal-mart and anything with bottled water, bread and milk was packet. That’s right it’s another snow day! My children are going to be going to school in July at this rate. They already extended the school year one day for the last snow storm…lord only knows how long we will be out this time. We did actually get several inches of snow this time…

However Shane and I do know what real snow looks like… and it’s not this.
